Sammy Walsh was certainly been one of the local stand outs this summer but
last weekend in the annual Outlaws Downunder meeting at the Tyrepower Parramatta
City Raceway the “gasman” was running hot until engine problems forced him to
park the #92 Maxim in the final 30 lap A Main .
Sammy was very impressive all weekend and after setting fourth best time on
Sunday night’s final against some of the best sprintcar racers in the world, the
20 year old was looking good to pick up some great results. In the final heat
race Sammy fought hard with Robbie Farr but lost his have fought position on the
final lap picking up a still great 6th position. Unfortunately that meant that
he had to qualify from the B Main. Sammy continued to “gas up” his machine and
finished second to American ace Jason Sides but with a big oil leak coming from
his sprintcar, Sammy started the A Main finish hoping the car would finish.
Deciding not to wreck the 410 motor, a disappointed Sam was a non finisher but
with such a talented American field, many people are now noticing Sam Walsh the
third generation sprintcar racer.

“It was all good until the heat race when I let Robbie pass me, we were
excellent until then. We could have started in his spot, off pole in the feature
but I probably wouldn’t have finished, we had an oil leak in the B Main but I
still started in the A Main. Deciding not to blow the motor I pulled out. It
wasn’t the greatest weekend, not the result we wanted.”
Sammy and his “gasmen” wish to thank:
