Third generation racer
Sammy Walsh put on a very impressive display last night
at Sydney’s Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway and against
one of the strongest fields assembled this summer “the
gas man” finishing with a superb fourth in the thirty
lap Sprintcar Grand Prix feature.
Sam started his 2007/8
Summer sprintcar season late and after suffering a few
minor drama’s his jet back #92 Maxim really hasn’t done
many laps at the Parramatta track but after a complete
rethink over the short pre Christmas break, Sam and
his “gasmen” team were confident in a good night.

Right from the early
qualifying Sammy was looking “hot” out on the fast 460
metre Parramatta track and in a 53 car field which included
two of the best sprintcar stars in the World in Donny
Schatz and Steve Kinser, Sam was ninth in qualifying
before finishing third in the opening heat. His sensational
form continued superb second placing in the first Dash
race giving Sam position three start in the A Main feature.
At the green Sam continued his top form running in the
top six for the entire 30 laps powering into a solid
but impressive fourth at the checker.
“I think we had a third
placed car, just got held up in traffic and couldn’t
really show the speed we had. Overall we had a great
car and happy we finally completed thirty laps. Car
fell good tonight.”
