A broken wing ram slows Walsh’s TPCR assault                                             2-1-2008

It was back to the Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway last night for the first sprintcar meeting of 2008 and after posting some brilliant results since Christmas Sammy Walsh and his “gasmen” was looking forward to the New Years shootout.

A bad qualifying time saw Sam’s #92 Maxim start way back in the A Main field in position 23 but he’s not known as the “gasman” for nothing as he stood on the gas and forged through the quality TPCR field. After getting as high was sixth position, Sammy found his top wing ram had broken allowing the wing to move freely up and down the runners. Sammy continued on finishing in a still superb eighth place.

In a star studded TPCR field Sam with a 13.133 time finished qualifying back in position 31 not a great way to start the night. He moved forward in his heat race picking up fifth at the checker. That qualified him into the A Main field but with no dash race it was a big gap before he returned to the fast Parramatta track.

“It was a troublesome night. We were decent in the heat and had to start the feature from the rear. It was good in traffic until I found that the wing ram was unattached with the top wing moving up and down. From there I struggled a bit.”

Sam Walsh return’s this Friday and Saturday nights to the Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway for $50,000 to win Sprintcar International.
